Contrary, to other reviews, I am extremely happy with this camera (I have had 2 older model Canons and an Olympus to compare it to). The auto-focus works perfectly for me and the pictures are very clear. Using the pre-focus by pushing the capture button halfway is taking some adjusting to because the button requires less pressure than my old camera and I sometimes wind up just taking the picture instead of getting it to pre-focus. You have to give the camera about 2 seconds to analyze the environment before you take the picture for the auto-focus to work. I have taken pictures of people outside & inside with various lighting, and of homes for real estate work - the lighting on the final pictures comes out nice and even with all of the pictures (indoors with bright sunlight, very low lighting in rooms with no windows/overhead lighting, outside facing direct sun, etc). I also really like the remaining pictures count on the shooting mode screen. If possible, I would suggest going to a store where you can try all of the cameras before making a decision as bad reviews can sometimes be due to user error.

I purchased this camera almost 2 weeks ago and have been overall disappointed with the picture quality. I'm unable to take good pictures. Perhaps I'm not setting my pictures properly. I'm using the auto mode mostly and some of the programmed scene settings like indoor and portrait with not much success. The Pictures I've taken especially indoors seem be colour saturated and look fake or retouched. I've read the manual but other than describing the features, it hasn't helped improve my pictures. The camera looks great, takes great video, has a lot of features all in a small size but the camera hasn't delivered for taking pictures. I don't know much about photography and was only looking up replace my 7 year old 4 megapixel Nikon.

The camera is alright, but I was disappointed that there is not a printed User Manual included. The one available on the web has a "Copy" watermark on every page and it is very obstructive. Without the manual, it is difficult to use the available features. Before I consider another Canon, I will look for a different brand with better instructions.
